Three Ways to Generate Passwords
Random Passwords
Build passwords from any mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Configure length up to 1,000 characters and exclude ambiguous characters like 0/O and l/1 for easier reading. Best when maximum security is the priority.
Pronounceable Passwords
Generate passwords using consonant-vowel-consonant syllable patterns, creating nonsense words that are easy to remember and type. Each syllable is randomly constructed, keeping security high while giving you something you can actually say out loud.
Passphrases
Combine random words from the EFF Diceware word lists into a passphrase like "timber-dolphin-revolt-luxury." Passphrases offer the best balance of security and memorability — multiple random words are easy to recall but nearly impossible to guess.
How Password Strength Is Measured
Password strength is measured in bits of entropy — the amount of randomness in how the password was generated. More entropy means more possible combinations an attacker would need to try. StrongPasswd calculates entropy precisely based on your settings and displays it in the strength meter.
As a rough guide: below 40 bits is weak, 60-80 bits is good for most accounts, 80-128 bits is strong, and above 128 bits is considered very strong — practically uncrackable even by powerful computers.
